I've finished and delivered the last two cushions of the Murano Glass Tea Light project. I'm so pleased with the results and so is my client. I had to dye all the yarn myself and had the silk soaking for nearly a week so that they took the dye without being patchy.
This is a close-up of the fabric with the gold spun silk.
Here is the completed cushion with the gold spun silk.
This image is of the fabric with the yellow spun silk detail.

For details of the design, dyeing and weaving, you will have to wait for Simply Design, the new book by Jane Deane and me. It will be out by the end of the year.

Vote for me at Selected!
There's still time to vote for me in the Craft and Design Magazine Selected Awards. If I won I'd put the small financial reward towards the rent of a badly needed new studio.
Everyone who votes is entered into a prize draw to win a case of wine, so what are you waiting for, follow this link: http://www.craftmaker.co.uk/alisonyule/

Murano Glass Tea Light Cushions
I've finished weaving the burette and spun silk fabric designed for my client and inspired by their Murano Glass tea light holders.
Here is an images of one of the tea light holders that I used as inspiration for all the cushions.
I colour matched the yarn and dyed with acid dyes.
Here is the fabric, still on the loom.
I crabbed the fabric first, to help keep the texture and set the weaver, then washed in hot soapy water, rinsed and spun dry, before hanging to dry over a clothes airer.
All I've to do now is cut in two and sew into cushions.

Colour Palette of the Month - February!
In November I was in Liverpool for a birthday treat. Obviously a trip to the docks is a must and while there I took this photograph.
Initially it was the shapes that attracted me, but once uploaded to Photoshop the colours caught my eye and following my interest in urban colour I decided to use it for my February colour palette.
I hope you enjoy it.
