I've just watched BBC Breakfast News while eating my breakfast and am so thrilled to see Laxton Specialist Spinners featured! They only re-launched 12 months ago and have already made a profit and with Gledhills, it looks like British wool is making a come back. Hurray!

Students Work!
I'm always delighted to showcase work produced by my students that has been inspired by a workshop they attended. At the beginning of November I ran a course for Skylark Holidays aimed at rigid heddle loom weavers, entitled Make the Most of Your Rigid Heddle Loom which was attended by Jane Cowans, who's husband is a furniture maker.
On the left and below are a couple of images of the beautiful fabric Jane wove the cover one of the chairs her husband makes. She is so delighted he has several more chairs for her to cover.
On the right is the detail of the fabric Jane wove.

Colour Palette of the Month - January!
Last year I was given this lovely bouquet by a friend I helped. It was so beautiful it inspired this colour palette. I was so pleased with the result, I used it as the starting point of a yarn for Dot Lumb's Yarnmaker magazine.
You can see the yarn I designed and spun in the latest edition which can be bought from the magazine's website, where you can also subscribe.
I hope you like my colour palettes of the month? Let me know if you do and how you use them, oh and anything else you'd like or dislike or would like to see here!

How to Use a Drum Carder - Part 1
